Every once in awhile a speech, book or lecture inspires me to be better, rethink and motivates me to keep going. I may not always be right, find success, fail badly, make people mad or just down right give up at times. But the fact is that I keep going and filling my life with meaningful things that I find are important.
“Reassurance? It’s not here, and it wouldn’t do you any good if it were.
Opportunity? It’s everywhere.
You have been given a turn. Will you take it?
If you’re thirsty enough, the world is ready for you, more than ever before.
Tim Minchin as a famous Australian musician, composer, songwriter, actor, comedian and writer, but did you know that he is also a wise person when it comes to giving life advice.
Watch Minchin deliver the Occasional Address (aka guest speech) at his alma mater, The University of Western Australia. His advice to graduates on how “to be” is funny, inspiring, beautiful and real. To sum it up very very simply, he says:
1. You don’t have to have a dream.
2. Don’t seek happiness.
3. Remember, it’s all luck.
5. Be hard on your opinions.
6. Be a teacher.
7. Define yourself by what you love.
8. Respect people with less power than you.
9. Don’t rush.
Listen to these words of wisdom, and you might just get through life perfectly…Or at least, kind of unscathed.
Bottom line, take your life and fill it. As we continue to expand Hitch+ and many of the projects I continue to be involved in 2015, these 9 points that Tim Minchin speaks about become even more important in living my life to its fullest potential.
What are you doing in your life to fill it? GO!
