Two Things To Live By So You Can Keep Growing

Lately, I have been spending most of my time getting ready to launch Mentor+U and  producing my first online training program. Can’t wait to launch to the world shortly.  Also, I have enjoyed reading some great business books. The latest is  Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future. I love reading about brilliant people like this and understanding more what makes them tick. Elon sure is a testament of dedicating his own vast fortune to invent the future that is rich and far-reaching of any science fiction fantasy. Check it out if you like tech and the journey of the entrepreneurial spirit. I also get the sense that he’s an arrogant jerk and tough to work for. Maybe a requirement to be a successful entrepreneur? This is an authorized biography so interesting he wanted to be portrayed in this way. Another Steve Jobs maybe? Anyways, judge for yourself and let me know.

I’m also enjoying writing a bit more about my journey and here are two things that seem too resonant with me in order to keep growing and living an extraordinary life.

1. Living by Faith
This is a great reminder! You gotta hustle everyday like someone is holding a gun to your head. Some days I don’t feel like working hard, I don’t feel like being kind to people, I don’t feel like being generous, I don’t feel like giving people hope, I don’t feel like working out. I don’t feel like working on my business.

BUT here is the thing. I don’t want to live by my feelings. I actually happen to live by faith. Sometimes I work hard when I’m tired. Sometimes I help others even when I’m in deep, deep grief. Sometimes I work on my business even when I’m stressed out. And I move ahead in faith in spite of my feelings. Expecting great things to happen.

Sometimes you have to make a sacrifice through your money, time, talent and maybe even your life. Sometimes you may feel like saying, “I don’t feel like it.” But if you do, you may miss out on a huge opportunity that your faith has in store for you.

2. Living in Community
There are some things you will never learn on your own. You only learn them in community. To grow and develop your potential, you must learn from other people.

For instance, you can only learn about kindness or faithfulness in relationships with others.

In fact, the most important things you need to learn in life require that you be in relationship to other people. You can’t do it on your own. If you want to build your potential, you must learn from others.

If you want to reach your highest potential you need to be stretched. You need to be encouraged by others. You need to learn from others failures and successes.

You need to place people in your life that will help you but also so you can help them or others. It’s only going to help you do better at what you do.

I believe mentoring is such an important component in our personal and professional lives. It shows that we care and that we want to help others.
